SAN CLEMENTE OUTDOOR KITCHENS
Outdoor Kitchens Designed for San Clemente
An outdoor kitchen in San Clemente has to thread three needles: the architectural language Ole Hanson built this city around (white stucco, red tile, wrought iron); the corrosion reality of bluff-front and oceanfront sites; and Chapter 7A WUI compliance in the Talega, Forster Ranch, Marblehead, and Rancho San Clemente foothill zones designated Very High FHSZ in the 2025 LRA maps.
Werth Builders has been designing San Clemente outdoor kitchens since 1994. From compact stucco-clad islands in Pier Bowl historic blocks to full Mediterranean kitchens with pizza ovens in Talega and view kitchens at Sea Summit at Marblehead.

MATERIALS THAT LAST
What Holds Up in San Clemente
Outdoor kitchen materials are not all created equal — especially in coastal-zone climates. Here is what we spec, and what we avoid.
316 Marine-Grade Stainless
The only stainless we use on coastal-zone projects. Cabinetry, drawers, doors, hood vents, and fasteners. Generic 304 stainless rusts in 2-3 years near salt air.
Cabinetry & FramesPorcelain Slab Counters
Heat-, UV-, stain-, and salt-resistant. Outperforms granite and quartz outdoors and requires no sealing. Our default countertop spec for outdoor use.
CountertopsPorcelain or Travertine Pavers
Cool underfoot, salt-resistant, and easy to replace one tile at a time if anything cracks. We avoid stamped concrete in coastal zones — it spalls.
Flooring & DeckingPremium Built-In Appliances
Lynx, Hestan, DCS, and Wolf grills with sealed electronics and stainless internals. We avoid value brands that fail in year four.
AppliancesWHY HOMEOWNERS HIRE US IN SAN CLEMENTE
Outdoor Kitchens Built for San Clemente
A backyard kitchen here has to handle the climate, fit the lots, and meet the city codes. Here is how that experience shows up on every project.
Spanish Colonial Architectural Language
Ole Hanson founded San Clemente as the "Spanish Village by the Sea." Original deeds mandated white stucco, red clay tile, and wrought iron. Talega and most master-plan HOAs continue that palette. We design outdoor kitchens that read as part of the home — stucco bases matching existing color, terra cotta tile capping where appropriate, wrought iron accents.
Chapter 7A WUI Compliance
2025 LRA Cal Fire mapping designates much of Talega, Forster Ranch, Marblehead foothills, and Rancho San Clemente as Very High Fire Hazard Severity Zone. Any new outdoor kitchen enclosure, pergola, or cabana on those parcels needs Chapter 7A ignition-resistant construction. We build to current code.
Marine-Grade for Bluff & Coastal Lots
Cyprus Shore, Cotton Point, Sea Pointe, Sea Summit, Pier Bowl bluff lots need 316 marine-grade stainless cabinetry, porcelain-slab countertops, and corrosion-resistant fasteners. Generic 304 stainless rusts in 18-24 months in the salt-air zone.
HOA Submittals for Talega + Master Plans
Talega Maintenance Corp, Forster Ranch sub-HOAs, Marblehead/Sea Summit, Cyprus Shore, Reserves — every HOA neighborhood requires architectural approval for built-in outdoor kitchens. We prepare submittal packages matched to each.
