ORANGE POOL BUILDERS

Custom Pool Builders Serving Orange Since 1994

The City of Orange has more architectural variety than any other OC city. Old Towne is the largest National Register historic district in California — one square mile centered on Plaza Park, listed in 1997, with strict design preservation review. Orange Park Acres is OC's official equestrian community since 1928, with 20,000 sf minimum lots and up to eight horses per acre by right. Olive dates to 1887. East Orange runs into the foothills. Riverbend is a 1971-era community. And Orange holds OC's primary Eichler concentration — three adjacent neighborhoods of post-and-beam mid-century moderns with atriums and indoor-outdoor flow.

Werth Builders has been working Orange since 1994. We prepare Old Towne Certificate of Appropriateness submittals, design equestrian-aware pools for OPA estates, build mid-century rectilinear designs for Eichler tracts, engineer hillside conditions in East Orange, and pull every City of Orange permit through the Civic Portal.

WHY HOMEOWNERS HIRE US IN ORANGE

We Know Orange Backyards

Building in Orange means understanding the soils, permitting, and climate of this specific city. Here is how that experience shows up on every project.

01

Old Towne Historic Preservation Review

Old Towne Orange is the largest NRHP-listed historic district in California. Visible exterior changes in the historic district require Historic Preservation Design Standards review. Minor projects clear at staff level via Minor Design Review; substantial changes go to the Design Review Committee. We prepare submittal packages that respect the Secretary of the Interior's Standards.

02

Orange Park Acres Equestrian Designs

OPA was founded in 1928 as OC's official equestrian community. 20,000 sf minimum lots, up to 8 horses per acre by right (12 with permit), trails throughout, no streetlights or sidewalks in many sections. Pool designs need to coordinate with horse facilities, trail easements, and rural character — dark-sky lighting, drainage that respects downstream paddock conditions, ranch-aesthetic finishes.

03

Eichler Mid-Century Modern Pools

Orange's three adjacent Eichler neighborhoods feature post-and-beam mid-century moderns with atriums and indoor-outdoor flow. Rectilinear geometric pools, atrium-integrated water features, glass-tile interiors, and minimalist concrete decking match the post-and-beam aesthetic. We design with the Eichler vocabulary, not against it.

04

East Orange Foothill Engineering

East Orange runs into Anaheim Hills-adjacent foothills. The City defines hillside sites by 3 ft+ vertical cut/fill, 5 ft+ combined cut/fill slope, or existing grade ≥20%. Hillside permits go through Public Works with required soils/geotech reports, retaining walls, and drainage engineering. East Orange parcels in updated 2025 LRA Very High FHSZ trigger Chapter 7A on any new accessory structures.

POOL BUILDER FAQs

Common Questions About Building Pools in Orange

Most City of Orange custom pool projects fall between $95,000 and $200,000 for entry-to-mid builds. Old Towne historic-compatible builds commonly run $130,000-$230,000. OPA estate-scale pools with full backyard packages routinely $200,000-$600,000+. East Orange foothill view-lot pools with caissons or retaining $180,000-$400,000+. Eichler-tract clean-lined builds typically $110,000-$220,000.

For visible exterior changes in the NRHP-listed historic district, yes. Pool work in rear yards out of public view typically clears faster than visible cabanas, pergolas, or equipment screening. Minor projects go through staff-level Minor Design Review; substantial projects to the Design Review Committee. We prepare submittals matched to the Historic Preservation Design Standards.

Yes — and OPA is one of the best OC neighborhoods for it. 20,000 sf minimum lots support pool + spa + outdoor kitchen + sport court + fire features without compromise. We coordinate with horse facilities, trail easements, drainage to downstream paddocks, and the rural character that makes OPA distinctive (dark-sky lighting, ranch-aesthetic materials).

Yes. Rectilinear geometric pools (no organic free-form shapes), atrium integration where the home opens to the yard, glass-tile interiors with mid-century color palettes, minimalist concrete decking, clean water-feature lines. Eichler architecture asks for restraint — we design accordingly.

Most Orange custom pools take 10-16 weeks on site, plus 4-6 weeks of design and permitting. Old Towne historic review adds 4-12 weeks. East Orange hillside grading review adds 2-6 weeks.

Most of Orange sits on north OC alluvial valley floor — sandy/silty alluvium with generally good drainage. Eastern foothills transition to consolidated bedrock. Santiago Creek corridor cuts east-to-west with expansive clays and variable fill in spots. We pull a geotechnical report on every project the City requires.

Lower than Irvine or Anaheim Hills. Most Old Towne, Olive, and older 1960s-70s tracts are non-HOA — City permitting is the only review (plus historic district review where Old Towne applies). Riverbend, OPA-adjacent newer tracts, and some East Orange developments have HOAs.

Yes. Werth Builders is a fully licensed California pool contractor (CSLB #777-575, B-1 General + C-53 Swimming Pool), bonded, and insured for general liability and workers' compensation. We have been building and remodeling in Southern California since 1994. Always verify any contractor's license at cslb.ca.gov before signing.

We work with several specialty pool-and-backyard finance partners that offer competitive fixed-rate loans and HELOC alternatives. We can introduce you, but we never sell financing as part of our quote — there is no markup or kickback on financed projects.

"My husband and I used Werth Builders to create our backyard oasis and they definitely delivered. We absolutely love the way everything turned out and would recommend Peter and his company to anyone! I was very impressed with the fast response I always received when I contacted Peter or anyone working for him. They went above and beyond to make sure that we were happy each step of the way. They even pushed things through at the end to make sure our family that was visiting from out of town was able to enjoy it with us. Again, if you are looking for a contractor you should absolutely give Werth Builders a call."

Christina H.

"I contacted Peter Werth after seeing a patio roof he built for a friend. He was prompt and the consultation was very helpful. There were two challenges that were met in making and installing the new patio roof. The first one was how to build the roof around the chimney of the house and the second one was how to preserve the grapevines planted by my late husband. Both challenges were successfully met and the roof is great. Pete also gave me some advise on how to build up the patio floor to prevent flooding when it rains and could help me with that process in the future. I recommend Werth Builders to anyone needing any of their long list of services provided."

Coni C.

"We recently had our new pool constructed by Peter and his crew. Peter gave us the best price, he was very friendly and courteous. We had good communication with Peter throughout the entire process. His crew is very efficient and professional. The pool is awesome, well constructed and he added 3 spillway features. We are beyond pleased with the finished product and would recommend Werth Builders."

Noe T.

"I met with 5 different contractors and only received bids from 3 of them. One bid was exceptionally low, the other exceptionally high, and Werth Builders bid was right within the ballpark of what we expecting for the project's size. We put in a 600 sq. ft. patio (permitted) with lights and ceiling fans. We also laid down pavers and put drainage and cement on our side yard that used to be covered with weeds. Peter was great to work with. He was down to earth and approachable. We told him our vision and he made it happen. We didn't see any paper plans before they set to work and we were ok with that, but it did lead to a slightly bigger patio that we had originally planned for; still looked great. Peter responded to texts promptly and was able to accommodate our schedule. His crews were polite and showed up around 7am every morning when on site. Overall, solid experience."
